Ultraviolet treatment is a proven technology

Ultraviolet light has been used since the 1930s in germicidal applications, most commonly in water treatment. Solaris UV equipment is optimized for improving indoor air quality (IAQ), by disinfecting the air circulating through central air conditioning systems.

How UV works:
When a microorganism is exposed to ultraviolet light at or near the 254 wavelength, the light penetrates the organism and reacts with its DNA. This photochemical reaction permanently alters its DNA, causing the loss of its ability to reproduce, and therefore renders the microbe harmless. The constant circulation of air through the system repeatedly exposes airborne microbes to UV. Over time this diminishes and controls the microbe population levels.
